School Holidays

School Holidays are the best time for kids to get off from school and enjoy themselves. Often, the central government grants the fixed dates for all the school holidays. There are no restrictions or compulsions on students attending their school holidays. On the contrary, private schools have their holiday schedule decided after consultation with the management and parents.

Many private schools offer a 'last day of school holidays' policy to their parents and students where children can travel to their homes on the same day as their parent's return to work. Parents who wish to 'compete' with this kind of program may register the children for school holidays on public school days instead of private ones. However, this policy is not uniformly implemented throughout the country.

UK School Holidays

On the other hand, in the UK school holidays normally fall on Mondays followed by Fridays. In Wales, school holidays also fall on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. In Northern Ireland, school holidays usually fall on the first and last Saturday of the month, including public holidays. Holidays in Singapore fall on the last Friday of every month except the national public holidays. Public holidays in Singapore are distributed broadly as per the schedule and based on family day, holy day and community day.

School Holidays in the USA

School holidays in the USA are normally observed on the first Sunday of January and any other Sunday after that. In Canada, school holidays usually fall on a Tuesday, followed by a Friday afternoon rest. In most European countries' school holidays occur on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. The first day of school holidays in the USA is February 14 and the last day of school holidays in the USA is the day before the new year begins. In most European countries' school holidays occur between semesters.
